While surfing the internet, and I ran across an interesting topic, the 'Big 3 Questions Every Writer Should Answer' (learnhowwriteanovel.com). I've always found this difficult. I'm not sure why, but when I have to focus on specifics I crumple like a toddler having to say 'Night-night'. I thought to myself, why don't I try to answer those top 3 questions here and now.
First question, 'What is your novel about?'
It's about a young girl who lost her father in a car crash, has a best friend who is her exact opposite, and she must figure out what happened to her most prized possession, her father's cuckoo clock.
Notes: I'm terrible at this, but let's keep going.
Second question, 'Why should anyone pick up your novel?'
The Cuckoo Conspiracy is simplicity with layers. It's funny, deep, and focuses on the characters. A teenager's angst, a parent and child's grief and how each copes with the aftermath of losing a loved one all the while dealing with middle school drama and a missing cuckoo clock. Fun for the whole family.
Notes: I'd read it...
Third and final question: What is your novel's Story Question?
Huh? Okay, I had to look this up. I had no idea what a Story Question was and felt pretty dumb when I discovered that it's basically the goal of the main plot line. Haha, of course. In the Cuckoo Conspiracy the driving force is what happened to Pepper's father's cuckoo clock and why. Why did it disappear? Pepper takes it upon herself to find out.
