Disorganized Productivity?

Updated: Feb 14, 2019

One look at my desk and someone might find it difficult to believe I have finished two books (#querying and #editing). I am one of those creative types who enjoy having piles of books, notebooks, cute little do-dads and what have yous overflowing my workspace. Is it all fun and games? Well, the people I share a home with find it distracting. And frustrating. And irritating. And, I could go on. This is what I like to tell them 'Without chaos there is no order'. Not only that, but my mind doesn't function like a minimalist, all clean lines and stark corners. I've tried to be more 'organized', but I find myself searching for the sticky notes of thoughts and ideas I've jotted down and placed all over the monitor and maybe the desk, too. At least, I don't have the habit of writing on my walls (*cough* Anne Rice) or wipe their paintbrushes on anything and everything (I'm looking at you, Lucien Freud). In my humblest opinion, creativity and productivity, can happen whether your desk is clean or messy. When it comes right down to it, I don't want to waste time cleaning up when I can spend that time delving into my imagination, a much better use of my time and energy.

I think the organized/disorganized split is sort of a right brain/left brain thing.
